Chilean Candies

Take bottle, take down!!!

I have been watching this video for research and I feel that I'm in the right path. Now I think that I have to work because I want to show something next week.

Bad day and Bad week!!!

I have this idea down!! I will use the candies with politics message, but my problem is that I don't know how to do it. Actually, I dealing which media I wan to use.

My professor wants Guerrilla, which I think is a good idea, but I don't know how. ????

Step back and I have a new idea!!

Well I step back with my idea.

I was thinking that instead to try to sell happiness why I use the candy like a comparison to the laws in Chile.

My Purpose of this assignment is to use the fairy tales and event that happened or is happening!!!

Hansel and Gretel
My fairy tales is Hansel and Gretel and I want to use the coup in Chile, 11 September 1973. Anyways I want to use candy because I think the candies were used for the with to get fat the children and later eat them.

Chile, 11 September 1973
In Chile was living a dictator his name was Augusto Pinochet, who took the power of Chile. He attacked the presidential palace and later on he took the power for 17 years.  The took out the democracy and created new laws where the constitution in Chile are based on. Nowadays, Chile live with this laws and the population is not happy at all. In addition, Pinochet is dead but Chileans still are obey their laws. This laws have been arraignment but are still laws from Pinochet.

Metaphors 
Candies are the laws that Pinochet created.
Pinochet is the witch, even he is dead he still governs Chile.
Hansel and Gretel are the chileans who are eating the candies and being obedient to the laws.

Ideas

1. Use actual candies that will provide the politic messages about the constitution in Chile. I was thinking in melted the candy and created typeface with the message.

2. Use the wrap paper and design a brand with politic message.

3. Inside the candy put a paper with politic message.

Ideas that always fail!!!!

I have this huge topic about The coup in Chile 11 September 1973, but I have a problem to put in visualization of the media.

Bad Idea 1
Use a box where I will related the history about the coup in Chile. This box will be built with wood and the paper where the history will be narrative will have colors and images of the this event.

Bad Idea 2
The concept is happiness. I decided to paint a candy with the brand "HAPPY", but the colors I used weren't happy.

Bad Idea 3
Take a pictures of the canvas and later make stickers.

Bad Idea 4
Make a airplane out of paper and put candies and politic messages.

After to present this idea in class, my professor told me that is not what I want. Of course it was really fun to make this ideas, but that is not what I want to communicate. So, the teacher told me that I have to get back to my idea and get stuck with what I read. Also, she told me that I have to use the media in a certain way that people in Chile can feel the message. I have to use POLITIC MESSAGE.

Context
Santiago, Chile the Chilean coup d'état
The 1973 Chilean coup d'état was a watershed event in both the Cold War and the history of Chile. Following an extended period of social and political unrest between the conservative-dominated Congress of Chile and the socialist President Salvador Allende, as well as economic warfare ordered by U.S. President Richard Nixon,Allende was overthrown by the armed forces and national police.

The military abolished the civilian government and established a junta that brutally repressed left-wing political activity both domestically and abroad. Allende's army chief, Augusto Pinochet, rose to supreme power within a year of the coup, formally assuming power in late 1974. The United States government, which had worked to create the conditions for the coup, promptly recognized the junta government and supported it in consolidating power.

During the air raids and ground attacks that preceded the coup, Allende gave his last speech, in which he vowed to stay in the presidential palace, denouncing offers for safe passage should he choose exile over confrontation. Direct witness accounts of Allende's death agree that he committed suicide in the palace.

In the next years of this the Army violated the right humans, killing and hidden innocent people. In addition, the General Pinochet had rules that people had to follow or their will kill by the army. On of his rules was not go to parties or have a social reunion with friends, so they have to be in home to certain hours. If people are in the streets in the nights the army had order to kill them.

What I want to say:
I want to apply these fairy tales to the events that had been marked my life. This event is the 11 September 1973 because I believe this event change my country forever. I'm talking about the mentality of the Chilean changed, because of this horrible situation that Chile had to live. For this reason, I think that event is still in the memory of the population of Chile, because this country was raped in a certain way that people started hate the army. Chileans were prisoners in their own country.
With this project I wan to say the opposed of what people think about this event. I don't want to defend what the army did to the Chilean. I wan to say how this event left a scar in the memory of the Chile population. How this bad experience change the way to live, think, and act. Chileans are not happy anymore, everyone were waiting for a hope, but this hope came in 1989. However, this hope I was what Chileans were waiting. Anyways, I want to say this changes with a metaphor of the scar that change according to time, but the memory when somebody had it is still there.

Who you want to say it:
I want to say this to students, because their have to know what happened in the past and how this bad experiences affected the life oa country in South America.

Why you want to say it:

I want to use the ideation of memories, even thought people have bad feeling about this event. I think is really important to use the memories because these events never have to happen again. Even more, I think I want to say this using flashback of the memories (pictures), making connection

of what happen in at time in Chile.

How you will say it:

I want to say this with tracing paper and ink. I want to build a type of cube made of wood where I will a roll of tracing paper. This roll will have a handle where the audience can interact going through the roll. In the tracing paper will be images of the population in Chile in 1973 until 1989.

Hansel and Gretel

This assignment is about the read three fairy tales:

I choose The beast and the beauty, Aladdin, and Hansel and Gretel.

I decided to use Hansel and Gretel. Now, I'm researching this fairy tale and make a connection with an event. 

"Hansel and Gretel"

Hansel and Gretel are young children whose father is a woodcutter. When a great famine settles over the land, the woodcutter's abusive second wife decides to take the children into the woods and abandon them there so that she and her husband will not starve to death, because the children eat too much. The woodcutter opposes the plan but finally and reluctantly submits to his wife's scheme. They are unaware that in the children's bedroom, Hansel and Gretel have overheard them. After the parents have gone to bed, Hansel sneaks out of the house and gathers as many white pebbles as he can, then returns to his room, reassuring Gretel that God will not forsake them.

The next day, the family walks deep into the woods and Hansel lays a trail of white pebbles. After their parents leave them, the children wait for the moon to rise before following the pebbles back home. They return home safely, much to their stepmother's horror. Once again provisions become scarce and the stepmother angrily orders her husband to take the children farther into the woods and leave them there to die. Hansel and Gretel attempt to leave the house to gather more pebbles, but find the doors locked and escape impossible.

The following morning, the family treks into the woods. Hansel takes a slice of bread and leaves a trail of bread to follow home. However, after they are once again abandoned, the children find that birds have eaten the crumbs and they are lost in the woods. After days of wandering, they follow a beautiful white bird to a clearing in the woods, where they discover a large cottage built of and cakes with window panes of clear sugar. Hungry and tired, the children begin to eat the rooftop of the candy house, when the door opens. An old woman emerges and lures them inside with the promise of soft beds and delicious food. Unaware that their hostess is a who waylays children to cook and eat them, the children enter the house.

The following morning the witch locks Hansel in an iron cage in the garden, and forces Gretel into becoming a slave. The witch feeds Hansel regularly to fatten him up, but he cleverly offers a bone he found in the cage (presumably a bone from the witch's previous captive) and the witch feels it, thinking it is his finger. Due to her blindness, she is fooled into thinking Hansel is still too thin to eat. After weeks of this, the witch grows impatient and decides to eat Hansel even if he is not fat.

The witch prepares the oven for Hansel, but decides she is hungry enough to eat Gretel too. She coaxes Gretel to open the oven and prods her to lean over in front of it to see if the fire is hot enough. Sensing the witch's intent, Gretel pretends that she does not understand what she is being told to do. Infuriated, the witch demonstrates and Gretel instantly shoves her into the oven and slams and bolts the door shut, leaving "The ungodly witch to be burned to ashes", with the witch screaming in pain until she dies. Gretel frees Hansel from the cage and the pair discover a vase full of treasure and precious stones. Putting the jewels into their clothing, the children set off for home. Some swan ferries them across an expanse of water and at home they find only their father; his wife died from unknown causes. Their father had spent all his days lamenting the loss of his children and is delighted to see them safe and sound. With the witch's wealth that they found, they all live happily ever after.
